INZAGHI THE ATHENS HERO
(Champions League Final, May 23, 2007) With time running out in the first-half, which was largely dominated by Liverpool, a Pirlo free-kick deflected off Pippo Inzaghi to give the Rossoneri the lead. In classic Inzaghi fashion the ball went in off his arm. Earlier in the half Kaka had executed a lovely “roulette”. Midway through the second-half Gerarrd had a good chance to draw Liverpool level, Dida saved comfortably. With eight minutes remaining, Inzaghi scored with a fine finish after a great ball from Kaka. Kuyt pulled one back late on for Liverpool, but it proved too little too late.
