UEFA has described as "unfounded" reports that tickets have become available for today's UEFA Champions League final in Athens and dismissed claims that AC Milan have returned 4,000 tickets.
'Completely untrue'In a statement issued on Wednesday, UEFA said: "It has been reported that 4,000 tickets for the UEFA Champions League final in Athens have been returned to the organisers by AC Milan. The reports are completely untrue.
Extra allocation"On the contrary, both finalists requested an extra allocation of tickets over and above the pre-established quota of 17,000 per club. AC Milan submitted a request for 3,000 additional tickets for the final and Liverpool FC also indicated that they would have been able to distribute a greater number of tickets. Reports that tickets have suddenly become available are therefore unfounded."
